I currently have a WMR100 set up and broadcasting. It seems however that due to the temp sensor not being shielded well that the unit gives very erratic readings. as it it integrated to the system there was no option but to replace it. I opted to upgrade to the WMR 968 JD (I like green ) Below is a slide show showing my set up process (hopefully with out the need for expletives! )
I received the unit on 12/30/08. However, it was late in the day and on the 31st we had snow/ice/rain and Lots of Wind! New Years day was no different with temps in the 20's and wind-chill in the single digits. and wind speeds averaging 15mph. I didn't think trying to set up a pole was a good idea today. So I started this page.
First thing I noticed is that they forget to tell you to Unscrew the 8 (eight) small screws on the back of each solar unit and remove the plastic shield form the first battery’s + (positive) terminal and at the same time connect the RJ45 jack to the proper sending unit as pictured on the solar unit. (Note Gently pry with a small bladed screwdriver at the cable outlet slot to release the Gasket. Make sure all the screws are in the up position. so as not to strip any threads out of the plastic. ) Remove the plastic from the battery + terminal and attach the sensor ribbon with the rj45 jack to the solar unit. Replace the cover and tighten the screws.
Open the rain gauge cover ..2 small screws on each side bottom.. (if you do this outside make sure you don’t lose them. I also put a small piece of tape between the top and bottom of the unit before removing the cover and then slice the joint. This helps us old guys to position the unit back on the SMALL locating tab correctly) Remove the Tape holding the Collector it is the seesaw looking thing inside the unit.. Replace the cover Mount the unit on a level surface making sure that it is level on all 4 axis.
Below are some slides from the setup
