Spyware Malware removal :

This is the procedeure I use to keep my systems clean and to remove malware/spyware from Customers computers which are infected with spyware and or malware. These programs cause system slowdowns, browser hijacks, excessive popup adds, porno toolbars and in some cases loss of internet conectivity. Also a major factor in computer intrusions are peer to peer file sharing programs like Kaza. for more information on pests spyware and hijacks See the Pest Patrol Research Center.

You should have some of the programs I mention installed before doing these procedures. and as always have a

Complete back up of your systems before doing any repairs..

If you are not completely comfortable in running repair utilities Please have a compentent tech walk you thru or do it for you . I take no responsibility for any problems caused running these procedures.I have used these techniques sucessfully for several years with excelent results. However , Have your system disk handy and be familiar with the command line restore and also SFC /scannow commands

These procedures must be run in every profile and for some malware also in SAFEMODE

1. Delete temp. internet files. In each profile.. (open windows ,explorer click on cdrive go to tools; folder options;view and check show hidden files and folders: go back to the profile you have open and in c:/documents and settings/ your profile name / Local Settings . delete the files in the Temp folder and delete the files in the Temporary Internet Files folder .. Make sure to delete from recycle bin.

Up date Ad-aware and pest patrol deffinitons.

2. Run ad-adware found in c:/program files/lavasoft/Ad-aware 6 (click on the red ad-aware.exe icon) this program May only be installed on Desk top in one profile,this is why you need to start from instaled location in drive tree.. Must be run in each profile.

3. Run pest patrol must be run in each profile.. shut down and re boot and run scan again ..

4. Run updated AV Reboot . .

5. Run active scan from www.trendmicro.com?

6. Check that machine is running properly . With systems running Windows XP or (God forbid) ME right click my compute;r go to properties: systerm restore; check turn off system restore. click ok .. MAKE SURE your computer was running corectly before doing this step as you will loose all restore points . Re Boot. This will remove pests/spy/malware that were saved in the sys restore folders which are not usually cleaned/scanned by the above programs. Now go back to system restore after rebooting and restart your system restore.. Now practice safe computing!!

The virus deffinitions are updated daily and some times several times a day as needed by release of viruses into the wild. This is the program I recomend and use on MY NETWORK and install for My bussiness customers. Highly recomended .      
The above information is a quick tutorial on spyware removal. If you are unsure of any steps please call a tech as you can cause your system to malfunction. Read all procedures and do your own research. This is only a Guide as I do this often I may have forgoten a step which is second natrue to me.
